Focus on Fun and Learning
Fun Fridays - Training and Trail
Every Friday morning, we like to get together for A Bit Of Training and A Bit Of Trail Riding. As we strive to improve our horse knowledge every day, we are hoping that these once-a-week get-togethers will promote learning and fun - two main ingredients of ABOC. We encourage our boarders to participate in our group discussions on a chapter in the current book we are reading, and then to take a leisurely trail ride afterwards.
Memberships and Continuing Education
In our pursuit of breeding fine Friesians, we are members of the Friesian Horse Association of North America.
Again, to continue to grow, we at ABOC are implementing a Farm Learning Plan. Helen and TaLeekia are enrolling in Stable and Breeding Management classes through Michigan State University. We are also using the Internet to our advancement advantage, through FEMA's National Emergency Training Center Virtual Campus. At FEMA, you can find courses such as "Animals in Disaster, Module A: Awareness and Preparedness." Many of the courses are free.
We are also taking two lessons a week along with our normal riding around the farm several times a week.
ABOC does not currently have an on-site trainer, but we would be glad to take applications. We do emphasize English-style riding, such as Dressage, but our barn is open to all types. If you are a trainer, or know someone who is, please contact us.
Clinics and Shows
With 91 acres available to us, we have plenty of room for clinics and shows. We have ample parking, lots of stalls, an indoor arena, an outdoor arena, and round pens. If you are interested in hosting a show or clinic at our facility, please contact us.
We now have a 125 x 225 outdoor arena to use!
